Random Philosophy Stuff

Here

My hope, when all is said and done, is that we will be remembered chiefly as the people who invented—who devised and thereby also, for the first time, discovered—the perfect game, the very Platonic ideal of organized sport, the “moving image of eternity” in athleticis. Ever wonder what your favorite philosopher would be like as an action figure?

This classic site, Philosophical Powers, is rather entertaining. Though it has been around for quite some time, I figured I’d post it in the event that someone hasn’t already stumbled across it. Enjoy.

Sadly, here is another piece of dorky philosophy-related paraphernalia I’ve come across: http://www.smarttorso.com/product/nietzsche-shirt

Sure, it’s only makes sense because of a common mispronunciation of ‘Nietzsche’, but I still think it’s pretty cool – confirming, once again, that I’m a dork.

With this post, I introduce a new category of post: ‘Random Philosophy Stuff’. Every once and awhile I come across something silly on this world wide web of ours that is both philosophy related and clever/enjoyable enough to warrant a post – what follows is one of those things.

I, for one, never liked the Family Circus comics. Plenty of decent people in the world loved them, but I always found them to be completely uninteresting. The Nietzsche Family Circus is another story! This site “pairs a randomized Family Circus cartoon with a randomized Friedrich Nietzsche quote.” It’s fantastic! It’s a good way to waste an hour, but it is fun nonetheless.

I really enjoy funny philosophy-related videos. For example, consider this classic:

The Onion, a fake news source, just released one such video. I, for one, find it hilarious:

I’m working on a couple different projects right now and can definitely relate to the sentiment of this comic:
